At the end of the season, ball leagues have a mound of worn, dinged up balls. League protocol is to begin each game with a brand new ball, so these battered and grungy balls have little use anymore. They are dropped into a storage tub under the bleachers and shipped out to other organizations.
Thankfully, this is not the way the Lord deals with us. We all are like this worn ball, smashed by the forces of this world, corrupted from within, and marked-up with a record of innumerable sins. But those who humbly come to the place of restoration, the foot of the cross, will be cleaned up and put back in the game. Our gra- cious God offers complete puri cation!
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to for- give us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9
