A great coach started a team for his son, because he knew the game better than anyone. He personally outfitted the team with top notch jerseys and gear. Then he sent his son to invite the top players to join the team. Instead of seizing the opportunity, they made excuses. One said, “I’m going away on vacation. Another replied, “I just started a new job and am too busy. When the son reported this to the great coach, he was angry and directed his son to head into the streets to recruit players who were injured, disabled or hadn’t even played before. The great coach said, “These are the ones who will play on my team! This paraphrase from Luke 14 reminds us that we’re not qualified to play on God’s team, still his Son invites us by His grace to join His championship squad!
“…This salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen.” Acts 28:28
Will you respond to his invitation?
